Professional Development

The Anthropology Society of Western Australia (ASWA) aims to improve the quality of consultants who provide professional anthropological services in WA.

Workshops and symposia are an important means of developing professional anthropologists and sharing information.

On 25 September 2009 ASWA held a workshop entitled "Appearing Places: The Methodological and Heritage Implications of Contemporary Nyungar Placemaking". The workshop, entitled brought toghether a number of practitioners and staff from the Department of Indigenous Affairs to discuss a range of issues relating to the recording of contemporary Aboriginal sites and their assessment within the terms of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972.
